1. What data we collect
When you use BCS FixSafe, we may collect the following information:
- Account information: email address, password (hashed), user role (homeowner or contractor).
- Profile information: full name, phone number, city, state, and for contractors: business name, license number, years of experience, bio, insurance status.
- Job information: job titles, descriptions, categories, locations (city and state shown publicly on the platform; full address shared with accepted contractors only).
- Quote information: amounts, estimated timelines, and messages.
- Payment records: payment status, platform fee, contractor net amount. Card and bank details are processed and stored by Stripe — not by BCS FixSafe.
- Messages: job-related messages between homeowners and contractors on the platform.
- Photos: completion photos uploaded by contractors for job documentation.
- Reviews: ratings and comments submitted after completed jobs.
- Support cases: descriptions of reported job issues submitted for admin review.
- Verification status: email verification status; phone verification status when SMS verification is enabled.
2. How we use your data
- To provide the BCS FixSafe platform and its features.
- To connect homeowners with contractors.
- To facilitate the protected payment workflow.
- To moderate content and enforce platform safety policies.
- To send service communications: email confirmations, security alerts, account notifications.
- To send SMS messages for phone verification, security codes, job updates, quote notifications, payment workflow updates, completion/approval reminders, and support case updates (transactional only — no marketing SMS).
- To review support cases and disputes.
- To improve and maintain the platform.
3. Phone number and SMS
If you provide a phone number, BCS FixSafe may use it to send transactional SMS notifications through the BCS FixSafe Transactional Notifications program, including:
- Phone verification codes (OTP) to confirm you control the number.
- Account and security alerts.
- Job posting updates and contractor quote notifications.
- Quote acceptance updates.
- Payment status updates.
- Work completion updates.
- Review reminders after completed and paid jobs.
- Safety notices related to your account or job activity.
- Support follow-ups when a support case is updated.
BCS FixSafe does not send promotional or marketing SMS messages. All SMS messages are transactional only.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP (or STOPALL, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE) to opt out, or HELP for assistance. Consent to receive SMS notifications is not required as a condition of purchase.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent data collected by BCS FixSafe are not sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
SMS messages are delivered by Telnyx on our behalf. Telnyx processes your phone number as a service provider subject to their own privacy policy.
Providing a phone number is optional unless required for a specific feature. Your phone number is not displayed publicly to other users. SMS notifications are available for US mobile phone numbers only.

4. Payment data
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. BCS FixSafe does not store credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or other sensitive payment credentials. We receive and store payment status, platform fee amounts, and contractor net amounts from Stripe for job workflow tracking.
5. Data sharing
We share data only as described below:
- Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payments), and Telnyx (SMS, when enabled). These providers process data on our behalf subject to their own privacy policies.
- Between users: job details, contractor profile info (name, business name, experience, license, insurance status — not private contact info), and published reviews are visible to relevant platform users.
- Homeowner full address: shared with the accepted contractor only, not publicly.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
We do not sell personal data.
6. Data we do not expose publicly
- Email addresses.
- Phone numbers.
- Home addresses beyond city and state.
- Payment card or bank account details.
- Private review notes.
- Admin moderation notes.
- Support case descriptions (visible only to the submitter and BCS FixSafe staff).
7. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the platform. You may contact us to request account deletion.
8. Security
BCS FixSafe uses Supabase row-level security to ensure users can only access data they are permitted to see. Authentication is managed by Supabase Auth. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
